Workout Decisions

I have finally come to the decision of not doing the Results class at the gym anymore. The results class is a mix of Weight lifting and a little bit of cardio. It sounds great and wonderful, but it doesn't pinpoint each person's needs. Like for instance, this month in Results, he is doing circuit training where we all are in a big circle, with around 20 stations and u go to each station for 45 seconds then move to the next. Well he has like 25lb weights set out for bicep curls, well some of us weaklings can't curl 25 lbs. I just feel like it would be better for me to really push the cardio until I get to my ideal weight and then add in more weights for toning. I'm not giving up weights completely. I will still be doing some weight machines at the gym. My main focus though for now is lots and lots of cardio. On Monday & Wednesday I am going to do the rpm (cycling) class and on Tuesday & Thursdays I am going to do the abs class and then some cardio on my own and maybe a few light weights. The rest of the week I will do some type of exercise, but won't have a set plan.
The diet is going great so far this week. I even had Chinese last night, but I stayed in my calories. I really want a big loss on the scale this week. I am already ready for Friday to get here, not b/c of my trip but to see what the scales says. =) LOL! Is it sad that I am more excited about weighing in then going on a nice, relaxing trip? Hope everyone else is having a great day!
And Thanks Kristi for the tips!

It's definitely not sad to be more excited about a WI than a trip at this point. Baby steps! When you see your awesome results of your WI's then you'll be able to be even that much MORE excited about your trip!

when that happened to me in class (I took one that was quite similar) I would just grab some weights that worked for me and put them at the station. Sometimes it is just a matter of talking to the teacher also. Something to keep in mind when you decide to try it again. Keep up the good work!!

Good for you in seeing what isn't working for you and figuring out what will work.

A little advice, don't shy away from weight training and focus just on cardio. Muscles burns more fat than fat on your body. Your body will continue to burn calories after a weight training session than cardio. Once you step off the cardio equipment, the fat burn stops then.

I weigh in on Fridays too and if I've been especially dedicated to my work outs (just getting back) and to my eating, I'm super excited for Friday mornings.

Can't wait to hear about your successful WI this week!

Please don't give up the weight training completely! Try to strength train 2 - 3x a week. Trust me - I practically killed myself doing cardio for 6 months and only lost 25 lbs. I added strength training (and cleaner eating) and lost 68.4 lbs of fat since September 2008!!

Good luck! Go Team Lynn!
